I fell over in the garden and I am not allowed 2 go to school for 3 weeks but hopefully it won't be that long. I had to stay in hospital for a night and it was awful! Trust me, u won't want to be in hospital. I only did it Sunday. I am in cast 4 a very long time. Anyway hope Watling goes all right and hope to see some of you people in the future. Hi everyone,
i am almost a year six now so I won't be the youngest in the school next year. I am going to Gullivers Land next week then I am going to Kingswood for 5 days at the beginning of year 6 and knowing myself I will probably pack my whole bedroom and take that along with me. Kingswood is a computer camp and an outdoor challenge camp. I hope I get put in with nice people when we get our dormetries. We have been doing swimming in our heated pool and I almost got picked for the swimming team but it was just one race that I came 0.5 seconds behind. But there is always next year. My swimming teacher thinks I am a great swimmer but I need to work a little bit on my backstroke legs. I won all of my other races.

I wish everyone at Watling good luck for the future and say to Mr Black Harry Jacobs-Johnson said hello.

Hi Mrs. Pynn, thanks for responding to my message. I am well thanks. I live in Exeter now. Shortly after I left Watling school my family moved to the South West and I have stayed down here since.... my younger sister Johanna also went to Watling.

It is amazing you remember listening to me read! I do remember you, and learning to read. I am sure I knew one of your sons, although which one I am not sure – I think it was Andrew.

I too remember Margaret Jones playing the piano. Sometimes she would tune her guitar in using the piano in front of the assembly. I always found that amusing because I never really understood what she was doing!

I am not surprised the swimming pool has gone, a health and safety issue indeed! I think there was a pond there too. I also remember helping the Caretaker ‘name I cannot recall’ set up the gym equipment on Wednesday mornings.

The teachers you mentioned I remember vaguely, another one that sticks in my mind is Mrs. Plumber, she was my teacher for a while and was really nice. Do you remember her? A few other pupils in my class I remember were Eric Chang, Andrew Walker and David White. Watling is a great school and I really enjoyed my time there.

Hello David, Lovely to hear from you! You were at Watling at the same time as my boys, Stephen, Andrew and Simon. They remember Margaret Jones playing the piano in assembly. Andrew and Simon were also taught by Joy Jones. Both Mrs Joneses retired in the 90s. I used to go into school as a parent helper and remember listening to you read! I have been employed at Watling since 1992. The freezing swimming pool has been dismantled on health & safety grounds. In 2002 the school celebrated its 40th birthday with a big reunion and lots of visitors from the old days - you may remember Mrs Bliss, Mrs Simons, Mrs Wale.
Hope all is well with you.

Nice website - I left Watling school in about 1990. Remembering old head teacher Mrs. Jones, and my class teacher another Mrs. Jones.

Had such a great time there, never forgot the old swimming pool, it was absolutely freezing!!

Hi John (Sanders), it's lovely to hear from you. I expect the school hasn't changed a great deal since you were here even though we had our 40th birthday a few years back. It's nice to think a photo of our school will be on display in Australia. A few of our children emigrated to Australia last year.

How old are the children in your school? Would they be interested in emailing children at Watling, do you think? We only have children up to age 9 now. It would be lovely to set up a connection, if possible.

Anyway, good to hear from you. Enjoy your retirement. You've earned it!

Hi Watling, I'm having fun in year five. Me and friends at Streetfield miss you.
There is this teacher of mine and she said that we are going to have to do a five page art book. My teacher's name is Mrs Thaver. The first day we came there we thought that she was an indian but she comes from Africa and I don't mind but I am proud. My class is the first one. It is 5tt. Aso the day we went to Streetfield I was going to cry because I thought I was going to be by myself. So bye, I will talk to you later.

Hi
I just finished my GCSE's this week so I have finished school. It doesn't seem like 8 years since I left Watling. I still remember my time at Watling. My time at school has gone so quick.

I can remember Mr Black + Mrs Beddall teaching me. Hi if you are still at Watling, not sure if you will remember me.

Hello everyone! My Dad saw your messages on the website, so here is how I am. My house is bigger than the one in England and it has a swimming pool. My school is called Connolly Primary and I am in year 3. The factions (what they call houses) are named after trees (like Watling). I am in Tuart, which is blue. The other ones are Jarrah, Wattle and Banksia. We finish school at 2.50, which is really good. My uniform is a yellow t-shirt and maroon shorts and maroon jumper for when its cold.

15 December 2005 00:00:00
Hi it's me Matt!

I have seen all of your messages and I really miss you all. My Dad looks on the internet to see the Watling football scores each week.

Auckland has been fantastic, but the weather has been sunny, rainy, sunnny, rainy. Every day we have breakfeast in our hotel room because there is a mini kitchen attached to the living room. Every night we have gone to the same resturant twice, it is called MECCO.
For the fist two days we went on two good cruises, one of them was a ride up to Devport, the second trip was to visit Rangitoto Volcano! Then the third and fourth days were great. The third day I went to Kelly Thornton's Underwater World, then shortly after that we went to the cinimas to see King Kong, but in England I think you call it Kong. On the fourth day we went to the Auckland museum, it was great. The fifth day, today (16/12/05) is the day we leave.

We go to Sydney now and then to Perth (where I will live) on Monday...

Will write again soon.

Matty....

Dear Elm Class
I am having a great time in L.A. I have visited lots of places including Universal Studios (twice) and Ripley's Believe it or not Museum. At Universal Studios I went on the tour and saw lots of dangerous scenes including fire!! We also saw lots of famous people like Ron Howard. The hotel is very big and the view to the Hollywood sign is perfect! It has a rooftop pool which I went into many times and it is hot from 9am 'til 3pm. The breakfasts are fabulous with wonderful waffles with berries on top. We saw lots of famous people's houses including Robbie Williams, Elton John and Eddie Murphy. We are just in the airport on our way to Fiji!!
We are missing you all (but not the schoolwork). Speak to you soon.

Just a note to say to the 4+ children's parents that your children will love this school and so will you. I didn't spend all my time in Watling, because I went to another school and started half way in 4+. my parents wanted me to go there and I remember the first day and the teachers were so helpful and looked after me. so don't worry about your child's first day.

Elm Class, you have been busy! It's taken me nearly an hour to upload all these comments onto the website. I'll have to have words with Mrs Beddall tomorrow. Seriously, it's great to hear from you all. Good luck in your new schools and don't forget to keep in touch.

Hiya everyone, it seems like a lot longer since I was at Watling - been about 6-7 years. It was great at Watling a lot easier then it is now. I'm in year 11 at Queensbury. Hi Mr Black and Mrs Beddall don't know if you remember me but I learnt loads at Watling and got some great memories of it.
The website's really good. How's the netball and football teams getting on?

Congatulations, Alex, on being awarded the Queensbury Music Prize for this term. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert onThursday, well done to all. Are you going to Ghent this week with Queensbury's Music Department? Have a good time if you are. Let us know how it goes.

Hello Lisa. Oh yes, I remember the country dance club. I remember your mum used to run it and she used to play her accordian - and that was so much more fun than dancing to a CD! I remember Alex too, hi Alex!

Hi Watling!! It's from me Andrew Ensten (former pupil of Watling) I'm enjoying Priory and I am missing all the teachers and my old friends. I saw them on Wednesday which made me happy, and I miss Mrs Dyke and Mrs Beddall.
Lisa
06 July 2005 00:00:00
Hi Mrs Bedall and Mr Black. Do you remember country dance club and are you going to start one up again? I'm going to Queensbury next year and it's weird to think it's four years since I came to Watling. It's like repeating it all again except this time much bigger. Alex is doing his GCSE's next year if you remember him and we're both doing great at school. I like the website - keep it up!
Mrs Street
06 July 2005 00:00:00
Thanks, Lisa, it's lovely to hear from you and know you are both doing well. I can't believe it's four years since you left either. I look forward to seeing you in Queensbury concerts now as well as Alex.

Hello every one at watling, how is every body doing??? Priory is a lot harder than watling was when i was there. Mrs Beddall, Sophie is enjoying your teaching, and likes school alot. Persanily i don't no why but thats just me!!! Every body from priory (that used to go to watling of cause) ses hi, and i really mis the way you dint give us that much homework. You see they don't go easy on us at priory, its homework EVERY night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please write Back as im swamped with homework and need to talk to someone!!!!!Lots of love Holly Mason

Hello Holly, it`s good to hear from you. You`re well remembered because I sometimes call Sophie by your name - by mistake. She is very patient with me. The trick with homework is not to let it pile up, but I know you get lots when you get older! Nevermind, holidays are coming up soon. See you around.

Hiya. I been hearing aboout school council. I think you should make a part on the this website about it - like who they are and that sort of stuff but if not then no matters.

Thanks for the comment, Zoe. It's lovely to hear from you.
If you look under About Us - More About Us there is a whole page about the School Council; how it is formed and made up each year and who is on it. This will be updated in September when we elect a new council.

In my capacity as a school governor I have recently attended a school council meeting, run by the children of each year, discussing important matters relating to school life.

I would like to congratulate all the school council members for running a great meeting. I was very impressed with the way matters were debated and decisions made.

Congratulations to you all. Keep up the good work as you are all helping to make Watling Lower School a better place to be. Once again well done to you all and many thanks for inviting me!

I was at watling over 6 years ago and I can't belive how the time has gone by, how the school has changed and seeing all the teachers names again I wish I could go back and be 7 or 8 years old again just for 1 day and see all the teachers. The website is brilliant if only there was a page where you could see all the classes of the past.

Lovely to hear from you, Joe. You could always pop in to see us on a Wednesday afternoon when you finish early; we'd love to see you.
